Double Standards?

CNN Manuel Bartsch, 18, had been jailed since December 21 after discovering that his step-grandfather never completed paperwork eight years ago to make his stay in the United States legal. Bartsch must appear before an immigration judge at a later date, said Greg Palmore, spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. "He's basically an illegal alien," Palmore said. I thought the term now a days was undocumented immigrate? Bartsch discovered the incomplete paperwork when he was searching for documents to show he was an American. When he couldn't find any, he contacted U.S. immigration authorities hoping the office would have records. He was detained and jailed. So he thought he was a legal resident of the US. Couldn't find his paperwork called to see if he could get a copy from the government and they jailed him. I bet that if he was from south of the border he could have been drunk, wrecked his car have have been out of jail quicker without threat of being kicked out the country.
