We Now Have A National Language

Last Thursday the Senate by a vote of 63 to 34 decided that english is the USA's official language. I thought this was decided about 230 years ago myselft, oh well better late than never.

The Senate voted yesterday to make English the ''national language" of the United States, declaring that no one has a right to federal communications or services in a language other than English except for those already guaranteed by law.

It may have been subversively "decided" 230 years ago by a select few, but let's remember that the people who were living in America prior to the European settlers were not speaking English. And, after the English-speaking settlers made America their home, they decided to allow people from all over the rest of the world to come and call America their home, too. Alas, many of those people didn't speak English, because they did not come from England or any of its colonies. And so then the question is: who made English America's national language?

I guess now we can say (sadly, in my opinion) that The US Senate did, and they did so long after the government had decided to let in all sorts of people who don't speak English as their first language. Hmmm... that sounds fair and so open to the global, international community...
