NC Passes New Film Incentives Bill

WWAY TV 3 Lawmakers Thursday passed a film incentives bill that's expected to revitalize the industry in North Carolina. They fixed a loophole in a current law that had film companies getting smaller incentive packages than expected. The companies will now get the entire 15 percent tax break, without having to pay corporate income tax. Senator Julia Boseman said Screen Gems Studios plans to move ahead with expansion plans for the studio on 23rd Street, which would give Wilmington the largest single stage on the east coast.
